Mosquito Borne Diseases

Mosquitoes are well known to carry several infectious diseases of viruses and parasites (like malarial), and transmitting them from animal-to-animal, animal-to-person, or person-to-person, without afflicting the insect vectors with symptoms of disease. Diseases transmitted by mosquito species include malaria, dengue, chikungunya, yellow fever, elephantiasis, Japanese encephalitis, West Nile virus, diseases related to Zika virus etc.

Among these dengue, Chikungunya and diseases due to Zika virus is reported to be a rapidly emerging disease and has been of a concern due to its varied and severe form of symptoms and in the inability to cure the diseases due to the absence of any specific available treatments.
